Carmen Carrozzo, founder of Maison Gala, infuses each creation with a piece of herself, a love for Italy, and an unwavering passion for artisan craftsmanship.
In the autumn of 2012, Carmen left Lake Maggiore and moved to France for love and career opportunities. Upon arriving in Paris, she continued her fast-paced career in finance, a field she had been thriving in for a decade since her early years in Milan.
It wasn’t long before Carmen’s Parisian circle discovered—through spontaneous, convivial dinners—a glimpse into her Italian heritage. Hand-embroidered linen tablecloths, lovingly crafted by grandmothers (Nonne) and aunts (Zie), adorned the table, along with heirloom glassware and artisanal ceramics passed down through generations.
These small yet precious treasures carried the stories of her ancestors, a legacy carefully preserved and cherished over the years.
THE SPARK THAT STARTED IT ALL
Then, in 2018, everything changed. One day, the beloved set of plates gifted by Nonna Carmela slipped and shattered into countless pieces on the floor. « No problem, » she thought. « We’ll just order a new set! »
But Carmen soon realized that the artisan who had crafted these plates was no longer in business. The set was irreplaceable—the end of a tradition spanning generations.
From this moment of loss emerged a powerful idea: to safeguard the world of artisanal craftsmanship. Fueled by her desire for a more meaningful career, Carmen embarked on a new journey in 2020—to build a brand rooted in responsibility, solidarity, and authenticity.
Maison represents home—a place of gathering, where family and friends come together.
Gala, derived from the Old French gale, evokes grandeur, festivity, and the joy of shared meals.
Combining these two notions—family and celebration—Maison Gala was born.
